Regulatory Compliance

NORM Services provides a wide variety of regulatory compliance services for clients that need regulatory assistance with the proper identification, licensing, permitting, characterization, storage and management of RCRA, NORM and TENORM. NJORM Services will establish site-specific analytical parameters which (at a minimum) address each of the following items:
- Criteria for requiring air sampling and sample analysis in support of the respiratory protection program and worker dose assessment.
- Unrestricted release criteria for contamination on persons and equipment leaving the jobsite.
- Release and/or disposal criteria for contamination materials.
- Target levels of residual contamination to be achieved during decommissioning.
- Decommissioning survey methods and analytical requirements.
- Technical specifications and capabilities of survey instrumentation, radiation detection equipment, and air sampling equipment.
NORM Services assigns an NRC certified Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to each of our projects. The RSO shall assure the adequacy of radiation protection and radiation measurement activities performed at temporary jobsites. As necessary, the RSO shall provide direct on-site supervision of survey instrument operators and radiation technicians. The project RSO is immediately available when operations are ongoing. The RSO develops and maintains a copy of the following documents at each project site:
- All site-specific work plans and analytical parameters which have been approved for activities at that specific site.
- All Radiation Work Permits which have been approved.
- All department approvals applicable to that specific site.
- All applicable licensee procedures.
- A copy of NORM Services Radioactive Materials License and the site’s radioactive material license, if applicable.
- A copy of the applicable Regulations.
- A list of all persons who have completed safety training for that site, including any project specific safety training.
- A copy of the project Radiation Protection Program.
