NORM Remediation and Project Work

NORM Services offers a wide variety of for the management of NORM and TENORM for mining operations, oil and gas facilities, water treatment plants and other facilities. Our work is performed in compliance with the conditions set forth in NORM Services’ Radioactive Materials License. NORM Services license is authorized to handle materials in any form containing Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (TENORM); uranium and thorium, and their progeny in quantities necessary to perform decommissioning, decontamination, site characterization; and TENORM handling services at temporary jobsites for which a valid Radioactive Materials License from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission or an Agreement State exists, or which are currently under a TENORM registration or pre-registration characterization period. NORM Services is authorized to provide services related to decommissioning, decontamination and site characterization. The authorized activities include:
- Radiation surveys using portable radiation detection equipment;
- Wipe test for removable contamination
- Technical assistance in the preparation of radioactive material shipping documents;
- Technical assistance in the selection of packaging and labeling for radioactive material;
- Packaging and labeling of "normal form" radioactive material for shipment / disposal;
- Facility decommissioning / clean-up
- Providing radiation safety training involving the use of radioactive materials;
- Dose evaluations
- Air sampling for radionuclides
- Water / soil / TENORM sampling for radionuclides
- Preparation of work plans, procedures, and reports pertaining to decommissioning services
- Direct handling of, manipulation of, or other activities that may provide a potential exposure pathway to workers or members of the public involving TENORM.
